Carmina Burana ...one more time
I just finished singing the Victoria concerts for Carmina Burana with the Victoria Ballet (no, I wasn't dancing). The concerts went very well and seemed to have been well received by the Victoria community. We're off to Duncan on Wednesday for one final performance at the Cowichan Theatre at 7pm. It's been a great experience getting to perform this repertoire as I understudied it when I was a student. This has been a good challange for me because the music utilizes my entire range, including a few falsetto coloratura passages and some wicked repetitive high G's! After the Duncan performance it's onto singing the Mozart Requiem on April 27, 2010 with the Vancouver Island Symphony in Nanaimo and my wife Natalie is the soprano soloist. Then in May I'll be heading to Vancouver to perform Curlew River with City Opera Vancouver. It's great to busy!

Carmina Burana
Well its been quite the week!
I have been offered to sing in "Carmina Burana", and recently accepted after purchasing and looking over the score. Man what a fantastic sing. Looks like it is a lot of fun. There are 3 performances at the Royal Theatre on March 26-27-28 and 1 in Duncan on Apr 7. It's Ballet Victoria's gig and the Choral Society is singing. It's with two pianos and percussion. Looking forward to it.

Symphony Audition
I am off to Vancouver tomorrow morning to audition for the Victoria Symphony for their upcoming seasons. I am looking forward to singing a few oratorio pieces from Messiah and Bach's B-Minor Mass as I rarely get the opportunity to sing this material. I will also bring an aria and the Songs of Travel just in case. I get the pleasure of being accompanied by a friend and fabulous pianist. I am also hoping to make a day out of it and visit some good Italian bakeries, cafe's and Food Import Stores. Here's hoping for good travel weather and a solid audition!
